Description
This is a genuine antique Colt 1849 Pocket Model revolver, serial number 256232, dating it to the early 1860s. Once the most widely produced Colt percussion revolver, this particular example is now in heavily corroded relic condition, with the frame, cylinder, and barrel exhibiting extensive surface rust and mineral pitting. Remarkably, all six chambers remain loaded, a haunting reminder of its last moment in use.
The pistol features a 5-inch octagonal barrel, visible loading lever recess, and a brass grip frame, which has survived in much better shape than the iron components. The trigger guard and backstrap retain their distinct Colt profile and patina, contrasting with the severely deteriorated upper half. Despite its condition, the serial number is still legible—a rare trait in dug or battlefield relics.
Whether you're a Civil War collector, relic display enthusiast, or historical firearms preservationist, this piece captures the essence of a hard-used sidearm from America’s tumultuous past.
